About Remnant City

remnant city pittsburgh ownersFrank and Betty Lou Dorfner opened Remnant City in 1970, bringing the very first remnant carpet store to Pittsburgh. Frank was an innovative businessman. To help advertise Remnant City Frank created the Rug Bug, our beloved carpeted Volkswagen beetle.

Though it has had many makeovers through the years, it continues to be a landmark on Route 51. Remnant City continues to be family run by Frank and Betty Lou’s daughters Kim and Lisa. For over 40 years Remnant City has established itself as Pittsburgh’s carpet remnant store. It has grown from just single room sizes to carrying a huge selection of full-size carpet remnants, area rugs, and luxury vinyl flooring all with whole house installation.

In 2011 Remnant City expanded to the North Hills (Wexford, Pa). We now offer two convenient locations. So no matter where you are located in the greater Pittsburgh area, we can be there to serve your carpet, stair runner, area rugs, and luxury vinyl flooring needs. Our vast selection of inventory allows customers to find the perfect selection for all their flooring needs. From whole house carpet solutions to custom-made area rugs and stair runners, we have exactly what you need for your floors.
